The Wrath of God (1972)

Lavish early 70s incomprehensible period piece. Rambling 1920s Central American coup plot and a mute Native woman - what is it with 70s films and mute rape victims? Peckinpah this ain't. A visibly drunk Robert Mitchum plays the iconic machine gun toting renegade priest (which is funny as Victor Buono actually 'plays' the drunk in the film). A great ensemble cast - including a very young Frank Langella - can't really save the onscreen story, but its sure fun to watch them try and it looks like a blast was had filming it *HIC*. An odd big budget entry by Soldier Blue director Ralph Nelson that fell through the cracks.
