Starcrash (1979)
Italy
Director: Luigi Cozzi
Starring: Marjoe Gortner, Caroline Munro, Christopher Plummer, David Hasselhoff
Before Luigi Cozzi made the best Italian Alien rip-off (Contamination), he made the best Italian Star Wars rip off ever...and this deliriously masterful rip off has definitely stood the test of time. 30ish some odd years later, on those particularly crazy nights when the disciples gather in the catacombs and the drinks flow free and the SciFi siren sings her sweet song...Starcrash wins every time. It seriously never gets old...a massive Sinbad vibe, a mercifully masked David Hasselhoff, SFX ranging from, well, all over the place...oh, and mind boggling sex goddess Caroline Munro makes this just about perfect. Munro plays Stella Star, who, with her smuggler partner and hick robot, fight...well, you know the drill - good guys, evil masked counts, laser swords, royalty rescue, giant 5 story robots...this has it all and then more and that IS a good thing!!! Drink, watch, and party 'cuz life is good! Cozzi also co-wrote Argento's Four Flies on Grey Velvet.
