Help
The Hex transcodes movies into two sources that are fairly universal and should give just about anyone the ability to watch our movies. The .AVI files are encoded in the XVID format which is an open source version of DIVX. The iPod files are pretty self explanatory - they are H.264 files in .MP4 format designed to play on any Apple device - iPod, iPhone, AppleTV, iTunes or any other device that supports this format. To view Cosmic Hex .AVI files you must use one of the following methods:
A) For the PC - Have the XVID and DIVX codecs installed on your computer. They're free and can be obtained here: http://www.xvid.org/ | http://www.divx.com/ The DIVX installer also has a player that comes with it. Once the codecs are installed, though, most other players including Windows Media Player will work. If you plan on viewing movies on your computer, we recommend using the VLC media player - it truly is Cosmic, will play just about anything (including individual DVD .VOB files!) and... Oh yes, its free!! http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
B) There are several set-top DVD and Blu-Ray players that are DIVX/XVID compliant. Just burn the files onto DVDr media, plop them in and enjoy...as simple as that. Here are a few:
BLURAY - http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/14395-DivX-certifies-six-Blu-ray-players.html
DVD - http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=divx+dvd&x=0&y=0
There are many, many more...
C) Tons of portable devices are DIVX/XVID compliant these days - we particularly like the Archos models: http://www.nextag.com/divx-player-portable/products-html
http://www.archos.com/products/
With these, you can watch movies on the go or plug it into any TV - pretty stellar if you ask us.
D) We saved the best for last - Both the XBOX 360 AND the PS3 are both fully DIVX/XVID compliant. If you have either of these gaming systems, you can play our movies on your television!
We here at the Brotherhood of the Hex Cosmic strive to deliver - feel free to drop any hints, tips or suggestions you may have. The universe works as one - so should strive the disciples!
